BUCHAREST, ROMANIA (May 13, 2009) – Turabo Cafe has started development of Romania’s first specialty coffee roasting business, which is expected to begin operation later this year.
“The time has come for cafes in Romania to move beyond the pre-packaged coffee currently imported from other countries,” said General Manager Tudor Dragomir Niculescu. “Just like food, coffee is always best when expertly prepared from high quality ingredients and consumed when served fresh. We aim to supply coffee to our own cafes and other wholesale clientele in Romania that will be of a quality never before experienced in this country.”
The roasting facility will be located approximately 200 km outside of Bucharest and is expected to be operational in late 2009.
A team of industry specialists from American-based coffee consulting firm Cafemakers has been contracted to head development of the roasting facility and its procedures.
“All top coffee consuming markets around the world have seen a leader emerge that changes the perception of what is possible with coffee,” said Cafemakers Managing Director Andrew Hetzel. “We are very excited to help Turabo take this historic step forward in Romania’s coffee culture.”
With education being a key component to the success of Turabo and future success of its wholesale coffee customers, Turabo Cafe expects to launch the Turabo Espresso Academy training center in early 2010.
