Jobs we love: Andrew Hetzel

November 20th, 2009 · 2 Comments · press

Two weeks ago at the beginning of a round the world business trip (which I will write about later), my computer decided to commit suicide by drowning in orange juice, rendering me unable to cost effectively communicate with the outside world.

I was finally able to purchase a replacement last night and when catching up on all of my messages was delighted to see that the James Beard Foundation posted their profile of me to their website, which had previously only been available to membership.

Read below:

As a professional coffee taster, it’s no surprise that Andrew Hetzel can’t sit still: he spends up to 200 days traveling the world to sample various types of joe. And when he’s not en route to an emerging producer, he writes. A lot. (Good thing he has all that coffee for late night paperwork.) Click here to learn more about his business of the bean.

For the record, I love the job too.

i cant imagine what i’d do to be a jet-setting coffee taster like mr hetzel. i’m currently recommending commercial coffee machines and grinders to cafes and roasters. its cool but i wish it was cooler.
