Another chapter has closed for the controversial Cuppy’s Coffee chain, punctuated by their acquisition by franchise consultant, FranSynergy.
In a transaction watched so closely by the food and beverage industry that it took us almost a month to notice, the Alabama-based consultancy announced that new CEO Dale Nabors‘ primary objective is to guide the Cuppy’s organization to the next level. Insiders speculate that by reaching the next level, Dale will receive a free player that will allow him to advance to a hidden bonus screen.
The company elaborated that Dale’s vision for Cuppy’s includes:
- Refocusing internal support efforts to increase franchisee satisfaction and profitability.
- Assisting franchisee stores not yet opened to open their units.
- Increasing national brand awareness thereby increasing brand equity for our franchisees.
Hmm. Although not exactly a “we will go to the moon…” JFK style of visionary statement, if “refocusing internal support efforts” will truly increase franchisee profitability, I suppose that’s what they should be doing right now because it’s going to be HARD.
So what happens now to all the people that Cuppy’s ripped off and never refunded money too? They need to take care of the people that were ripped off and have been financially hurt.
Well Joe, I don’t have enough information to confirm or deny your allegations; however, I suggest that this is matter that falls in Mr. Nabors’ hood.
(I was really waiting for a chance to say that)
Good luck!
Cuppy’s stole over $25,000 from me with their broken promises and agreements. I have been trying to get my money back for years. They are a disgrace!
I worked with Dale 10 years ago as a franchise sales rep. I was contacted by him in September 2008 when he learned that I owned a modular construction company. I flew to Alabama to discuss providing him with a turnkey solution for the double drive thru concept to include all of the approved engineering, manufacturing of the building, transportation, installation and finish out of the buildings. He was more interested in showing me his vision of the transformation of an empty grocery store and the smoke and mirrors of potential opportunity in addition to being the exclusive supplier of the Cuppy’s Coffee buildings. We were prepared to work directly with the franchisees that had not received buildings and their financial institutions to assure that they would get exactly what was agreed in their franchise agreement. We would handle the transaction and once the occupancy permit was issued for the building we would then forward the balance of any monies left over to Dale Nabors and Medina Management. To make what is already a long story short, I flew back to Texas and he avoided all follow up calls that we made to try and solidify our relationship. Although this was a great opportunity for us we were hoping to help those that lost money and confidence in their dream of owning their own business.
